Aigue-Marine: 2004 - 2013

Today, exactly nine years ago, I put on my very first cosplay and went to the second convention of my life. Nine years, about 80 costumes and numberous conventions and fan gatherings later I'm still as excited about my hobby as I was when I started working on my first costume with the help of my grandmother. Wow. Time surely flies.

On this collage you can see every costume I made within these said nine years, starting with Haku from Naruto which I made in 2004 and ending with Carol Marcus from Star Trek Into Darkness which I finished recently. I left out absolutely nothing.
Yes, I looked crappy at the start - just like every cosplayer does. Yes, my first costumes were badly made. Yes, I had absolutely no clue how to work with make-up and getting hold of wigs was impossible in 2004 and 2005. But do I regret it? No. Not at all.

Looking at the pictures of the very start of my cosplay "career" once again reminded me what cosplay really is about. It's not about being perfectly beautiful ot the perfect craftsman, about being the perfect model or the perfect performer on stage. It's about having fun in your costume and with your friends. And I'm looking forward to the fun the 10th year of cosplay will bring!

I'm really happy how many friends I found and how many amazing people I met in the past nine years. Thank you for all the support and the lovely comments on the various pages I publish my work on. I'm really grateful!! Cheers!
