Disney: Wendy Darling by Aigue-Marine Disney: Wendy Darling by Aigue-Marine
Good Afternoon!! People, how are you? There is only one day left till Christmas. Are you already looking forward to the Christmas tree, Christmas lunch/dinner and the presents you will receive?
Surprisingly I dont feel Christmas-sy at all, but that is a point I will elaborate on another social media platform.

You know, normally Im really fast when it comes to updating my account with new pictures of my latest costumes, but this time it is different. On the one hand I have been feeling terribly lethargic this week which is pretty much unlike me. Normally Im a really lively, cheerful and motivated person. On the other hand I simply could not decide which picture to upload because ALL pictures we took during YukiCon 2011 in Stuttgart, Germany turned out amazingly!
When we left the tiny convention building to take pictures in the almost shabby backyard we would have never expected everything to work out this well. The lighting situation was just perfect with a beautiful golden light of a declining winter sun and I had absolutely no trouble posing in the costume I wore.
All shootings I did in the past months were about looking good in skin-tight suits. Everybody who has worn such a costume before knows that posing in such outfits is really difficult. Consequently I really enjoyed that it wasnt necessary to suck my stomach in all the time
Its been a while since I have been so happy and satisfied about the results of a photo shooting. LadyCallisto is a gorgeous photographer! And shes amazing at editing too. I am so glad to have her!

Speaking about the costume itself Id say that Im about 85% satisfied with the way it turned out. The dress could be a little bit tighter around the underbust, but well I still like it. Compared to my recent costumes (Batgirl and Miss Martian for example) it is really comfortable and can be worn in both summer and winter.
The part of the costume Im the least satisfied with is the wig. I am extremely proud about the ponytail, but adding corkscrew curls to the strands of the ponytail was almost impossible. I tried every possible technique I found in tutorials on the internet hot water, hair spray and a hair dryer, even glue it didnt work out. As soon as I removed the curlers the curls were gone.
During my holidays I will try to wash out the hairspray and glue and add new corkscrew curls to the wig again. That is the only part of the costume I really want to revise.
Generally speaking Im content with the costume and especially the pictures though.

P.S.: I will upload a lot of pictures of this costume in the next days. There are so many I would like to share!! I just thought it would be better to start with a full-body shot instead of a portrait. You can see much more of the actual costume in this picture.

This is a REALLY good Wendy costume! I actually think the cut of the dress is perfect the way it is. It's a nightgown and not really supposed to be form fitting, so this looks fine. If that's a wig you can apply heat to, try using a curling iron for the corkscrew curls. If you can't apply heat to it directly like that (as sometimes the wig hair can melt if it's synthetic), Curl it with the curling iron (not turned on), and use a hair dryer for the heat.

Thank you! :) And thanks a lot for your advice too!
I did try to curl it with a curling iron on a low level of heat, but the synthetic did still melt, so I tried to curl it with hot water instead.
The curls would have turned out wonderfully if I had been able to use the curling iron... >_<

It really did come out beautifully, just as you yourself did. While you may have been dissatisfied with small details like Hair Curls, I think it none the less worked out perfectly. The style of the hair brought out your features which is something that is always to the costume's benefit. Also, I actually think the somewhat loose fit around the bust-line works with Wendy's look. Keep in mind, her dress was, for the time, meant to be modest. Young Girls with their busts popping out wasn't all that common for the period, even Disney stuck close to that. Had Wendy been born in the modern era? (Laughs) Then maybe.

To summarize  Think Happy Thoughts Indeed.

As to how you've been feeling, I think with the year coming to a close you're only now really starting to feel the weight of everything incredible you've accomplished. The dozens of gorgeous costumes, the 'Cons, as well as other social, academic activities. It think your lethargy is really just your body's way of saying, "Time for a well deserved break." We all know how energetic you are; frankly, it's infectious and one of the most beautiful things about you. But *everyone* needs some downtime. I think, in the back of your head, this is kind of dawning on you and that's why you're not feeling the Christmas Vibes. You're still "In Work Mode," so to speak.

Give yourself a chance to relax, grab a cup of tea, coffee, Hot Chocolate, whatever puts you at ease and I think you'll start to take things in stride just in time for Christmas Morning. Either way, It's been a truly great year, and thank you for being so stunning and creating so many absolutely amazing things. Can't imagine what the New Year has in store but I know I'm looking forward to it. In the Meantime, Happy Christmas pretty lady.

Wow! Once again: Thank you so much for your elaborate comment!
This is the type of comment an artist can actually work with! :D

Personally I'm content with the way the dress looks. Wendy is a child and the lose style of the dress makes my chest look smaller. I just thought I should point it out, because a lot of other people criticized the costume at that point. :)

By the way - a break was exactly what I needed. After 2 weeks at home sleeping in and relaxing I feel much better and more motivated than before.

If *anyone* had a complaint/negative critique about your Wendy, especially in regards to the bust-line, then, with all due respect to them, they're quite cracked in the head. It was lovely and, to my eyes, bloody perfect with all the right detail.
:dalove:

And I'm glad that some much deserved rest did you well. I've been known to be quite the "work-a-holic" myself, and I've experienced, as well as seen, firsthand the kind of toll that can take. If you give it your all (which we all know you do. 112%) taking some time for *you* is a must. And now, with your batteries recharged, you can soar ahead into the start of another year full of incredible feats of creative genius. I, for one, am looking forward to it. Just remember to charge your proverbial batteries again when needed.

I mean, they were kind of right. Taking a look at the original dress is tighter around the bust-line. However it might also look this way because her chest is generally flatter.
But whatever... I'm happy the way it looks. :D

Yes. I will definitely keep that in mind.
Meanwhile I'm old enough to know when to take a break and when it is impossible to finish a costume although I would like to. Taking smaller steps is better than taking huge steps... I will take it slowly this year.
