So here it finally is. The first picture of my second Margaery Tyrell costume from HBO's Game of Thrones TV show. I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it in the trailer. I liked the dresses she wore in season 2 already, but what the costume designers created for her in season 3 was just breath-takingly beautiful.
My actual plan was to make her "Garden Dress" - The dress she wears during her many scenes with Sansa and during the picknick scene with her grandmother the Queen of Thorns. It was absolutely impossible to find a similar fabric to the one HBO used though. Seriously, I searched for weeks on eBay, local fabric shops and many other places, but I couldn't find anything suitable.
Thank goodness I had the opportunity to go fabric shopping during my holidays in London two weeks ago. And thank goodness the assortment of London's fabric stores is so much bigger compared to the stores in Germany. In one of the shops in Goldhawk Road near Shepherd's Bush Market I found this beautiful dark blue and gold brocade fabric. And so I decided to make Margaery's "Wedding Dress" instead. (She wears it on the day of Sansa's wedding.)

The pattern of Margaery's "Wedding Dress" is almost identical to the "Garden Dress" pattern. It only lacks an additional piece of velvet in the back-/neck area. It took me about an afternoon to create pattern for the top which fit properly. After the pattern was done the dress was finished in about 2 or 3 days.
The rose belt is completely made from Worbla's Finest Art. I documented the whole creation process from creating a stencil for the different pieces of the rose to painting and attaching it to the dress. I could make a tutorial on how to make roses from Worbla's Finest Art. Would anybody be interested in it? It's been ages since I made a helpful tutorial.
Once again the wig I used is a so-called lace-front wig. It was rather expensive, but I'm glad I went for it. It's one of the most beautiful wigs I own. It looks just like Natalie Dormer's hair in the show.

The shooting we did took place in the so-called "Rosenstein Park" in Stuttgart, Germany, which is next to a beautiful zoo and botanical garden. We put a lot of effort into location scouting and prop research this time. Gosh, we even baked Sansa's lemon cake from the official A Song of Ice and Fire cook book. Here are a couple of Behind the Scenes / Making Of pictures my friend and I took during the photoshooting.

Oh, and please make sure to visit Naraku's page as well. The Joffrey Baratheon costume isn't the only amazing one she has. Can you believe it? She created the golden pattern on the jacket herself! She didn't buy the fabric. She also made the gorgeous armour around her neck completely on her own.
She is simply incredibly talented when it comes to costume making. She has helped and inspired me numberous times in the past. You should definitely give her a WATCH on deviantArt or a LIKE on facebook. You will not regret it!
