Bonjour Mesdames et Mesieurs! How are you? Long time no see!
Good news! I am finally done with university! My bachelor thesis is finished and handed in which means that I am finally free again to engage in costume making, writing, making music, reading and being creative! Thanks to this huge amount of free time I also discovered a lovely anime called Kuroko no Basket
Alright, that's not true. I found out about Kuroko no Basket
months ago, but I fell truly in love with it when I was supposed to focus on specialized literature and boring scientific text for my dissertation. I hadn't made a costume from an anime or an manga in months. Riko
was the perfect character to get back in touch with this genre again.
What I really like about Kuroko no Basket
is that all characters of Seirin
get an equal amount of screentime. I have read and watched many sport manga and anime in the past. They usually focus on the protagonist and his best friend. If there's a team, the series tend to focus on the members of the team, not on the side-characters like managers, coaches, former team- and classmates though. And that's what's so cool about Kuroko no Basket
. Although Riko
is a girl and not a player - obviously - she's a part of the team. She's the coach. She's in charge. She is to be taken seriously. She is not a comedic relief or moeblob character. She is important. And nobody fucks with her. Nobody.
The costume itself was very easy to make. I finished it in about three days. Besides that it's almost completely made out of left-over fabric. Consequently it was rather cheap.
The short wig is extremely comfortable. No tangled strands, no brushing, no weird strands in your face. Amazing! I just love being Riko
. By any chance is there somebody interested in cosplaying Hyuuga
at some point? That would be really cool.
Oh, and because I really like Kuroko no Basket
I'll wear another costume from the series at CosDay
in July in Frankfurt
. This time it's not Riko
though. See for yourself... [link]Formalicy: Aigue-Marine
